Identify Your Face Shape

How do you choose the perfect pair of sunglasses for your face?

We've put together a helpful guide to assist you in determining your face shape so you can find the best fitting sunglasses.

To work out the best sunglass shape for your face there are 2 key things to consider including;

  1. Face Shape
  2. Facial Harmonics

FACE SHAPE

Facial harmonics looks at how the features on a face work together as a whole. Understanding facial harmonics helps you to choose styles that will be more aesthetically pleasing.

FACE SHAPE

Take a look in the mirror and determine what your face shape is by looking at our attributes below. You can also use a measuring tape to measure cheekbone to cheekbone, your jawbone and face length from hairline straight down over the front of your nose to the bottom of your chin.

Rectangle: Oblong faces, also called rectangular, are long and narrow with few angles.

Round: The round face shape has noticeable curves and less defined angles.

Diamond: Diamond-shaped faces are characterized by a narrow jawline and forehead with the cheekbones as the widest part of the face

Heart: Heart-shaped faces, sometimes called triangle, are widest at the temples and narrowest at the chin.

Oval: Oval faces have gently rounded, fairly even features and pretty much any frame is going to work well on them.

Square: Square shaped faces are generally about the same length and width across the face — they are characterised by a broad forehead and a strong jaw line.

FACIAL HARMONICS

Facial harmonics looks at how the features on a face work together as a whole. Understanding facial harmonics helps you to choose styles that will be more aesthetically pleasing.

Things to consider include horizontal proportions and eye position.

Horizontal proportions refer to 3 regions on the face; Upper Third, Mid Face and Lower Third. If these three areas are equally distributed or appear to be equal, you can reach facial harmony.

  • If you have a large Mid Face for example we suggest choosing a Pilot shape sunglass.
  • If you have a large upper third then we suggest a Bold Cat Eye shape.
  • If you have a small Mid Face then we suggest an Oversized Rectangular frame.

Eye position refers to the distance between your eyes. To achieve facial harmony you can choose frames that help take attention away from eyes when they are too close or too wide.

  • Wide Apart = Oversized frames
  • Proportioned =  All shapes & Styles
  • Close Together = Slim & Angular Frames
